Being Neurodivergent in Helping Professions

Dr. Stacy Greeter, double board-certified psychiatrist with both child/adolescent and adults, openly identifies her neurodivergence (ADHD, ASD, OCD) in the work she does. This presentation reviews her journey to embrace her neurodivergence authentically and use it to connect with patients and colleagues in the pursuit of helping self and others feel heard and understood. She describes her history of being undiagnosed through much of her schooling, experiences with supervisors, and what support systems she wishes she had and now hopes to pass on. Dr. Greeter frames her neurodivergence as a benefit to the work she does, offering a much-needed reframe to highlight the creative and heartfelt strengths that neurodivergence brings to the helping professions.
